You may be wondering what happened to the “top five shows of the weekend” column but fear not, it has just been a slow start to the year. Things pick up massively next week thanks to The Posies, celebrating their 30th anniversary with Ken Stringfellow and Jon Auer performing as an acoustic duo at City Winery on Thursday the 25th of January. Tickets are available here, with a meet and greet package also available.
The band are also re-issuing their classic 90s power-pop records: Dear 23, Frosting on the Beater & Amazing Disgrace, via a pledge music campaign. The vinyl re-issues should sound fantastic, while the CDs come with an additional disc of bonus material.
The Posies are one of my all-time favourite bands and while they’re also planning on recording a new album soon which will no doubt also be excellent (eighth studio album, Solid States, was released in 2016), their back catalogue deserves to be celebrated and heralded among the very, very best. Additional tour dates and songs below the jump.
